President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he had met with Denys Shmyhal and proposed his candidacy for the post of Ukraine’s energy minister.
Zelenskyy said after the meeting that he thanked Shmyhal for his systematic work at the Ministry of Defence and for processes that had been stepped up to ensure the country’s security. The president stressed that the same level of system-based work is now needed for Ukraine’s energy sector, particularly to enable rapid restoration after each Russian strike and to ensure stable development in line with national needs.
Zelenskyy also said he had held consultations with Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko and expects lawmakers to support this approach and the position of the first deputy prime minister and energy minister regarding Denys Shmyhal’s candidacy.
