Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he spoke with US President Donald Trump and European leaders after the conclusion of peace talks in Turkey.

This was reported by Sky News.

The Ukrainian leader noted that Ukraine is “ready to take the fastest steps to establish real peace, and it is important that the world maintains a firm position.”

The Ukrainian president added that his country’s “stance” is that “tough” sanctions must follow if Russia rejects a “full and conditional ceasefire”.

Donald Trump has not yet commented on the talks, which a Ukrainian source called futile. The Russian delegation said it was satisfied with the results of the negotiations.

Earlier today, Trump said he would meet with Vladimir Putin “as soon as we can organize it.”

“We will do it, we have to do it,” he told reporters during the last leg of his tour of three Middle Eastern countries.
