Ukraine is expanding its strategic operation aimed at blocking Russia’s south and continuing strikes on Russian oil infrastructure and military logistics. According to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, these actions are intended to limit Russia’s ability to continue the war.
The head of state said this in his evening address.
The president noted that thanks to political, financial and technological decisions made since last autumn, Ukraine has been able to transition to a significantly more technologically advanced defense.
According to him, the plan of “long-range sanctions” is being implemented, while the number of Ukrainian medium-range strikes is increasing.
“In fact, we have worked to block Russia’s south, and we are expanding this strategic operation — quite rightly — in response to Russian strikes on our ports and our cities,” Zelenskyy said.
The president stressed that strikes on Russian oil refineries and other oil-sector facilities, operations against Russia’s military logistics, as well as Ukrainian actions in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov, are aimed at limiting Russia’s military potential.
“Every level of pressure on Russia should bring this country — above all, its society — closer to wanting to end its war,” Zelenskyy said.
Separately, the president announced a new Ukrainian sanctions package targeting companies and vessels involved in transporting grain and other goods stolen from the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Ukraine is also preparing new sanctions against Russia’s military industry, financial networks and intermediaries that help Russia circumvent restrictions.
