Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that the next trilateral meeting involving Ukraine, the United States, and Russia could take place in early March in Abu Dhabi. According to him, after today’s talks in Geneva, readiness for such a format has increased, and the key task is to finalize the work on real security guarantees and prepare for a meeting at the leadership level.
Zelenskyy reported that during the day he had several conversations with the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov, the head of the faction David Arakhamia, as well as with the US special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner following the results of their meetings. The President emphasized that it is the format of negotiations at the leadership level that can resolve key issues, especially given the personalistic nature of the regime in Russia.
He emphasized that the war must be ended, but currently there are no signs of Russia’s readiness for peace or stopping aggression. According to the head of state, the world should be ready to increase pressure on Moscow, in particular through sanctions against Russian oil, energy resources and the banking sector.
Rustem Umerov, in turn, reported that another round of negotiations had ended in Geneva, which took place in two formats – separately with the American side and in a trilateral format with the participation of the US and Switzerland. Following the meetings, the Ukrainian delegation, together with US representatives, held a joint conversation with President Zelensky on further steps.
According to Umerov, preparations for the next round of negotiations are underway. The parties are working on finalizing security parameters, economic solutions and agreed positions, which should become the basis for further agreements.
Special attention during the negotiations was paid to the economic bloc and long-term mechanisms for supporting Ukraine. Together with the government’s economic team and American partners, a document on the restoration of Ukraine was worked out, in particular the issue of future reconstruction and an investment plan.
Umerov also thanked Switzerland for organizing the negotiations, and US President Donald Trump and his team for their active involvement and support of the process.
