President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a law restoring the independence of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
The document was previously signed by the Speaker of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk. The law will come into force the day after its publication in Holos Ukrainy.
“I would like to thank all parliamentarians for passing my bill, which is now a law. I have just signed the document, and the text will be published immediately. This guarantees the normal, independent work of anti-corruption bodies and all law enforcement agencies of our state. It is the right decision,” Zelensky said in a video address.
The president also stressed that it is important for the state to listen to public opinion and added that government officials will immediately inform international partners about the new law.
