President Volodymyr Zelensky has commented on today’s large-scale special operation by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), known as “Pavutyna” (“Spiderweb”), calling it a brilliant example of Ukraine’s independent success. He shared this in a post on social media.
According to the President, the operation was the most long-range one ever carried out by Ukrainian special services. Its planning took one year, six months, and nine days. All Ukrainian personnel involved in the operation on Russian territory were successfully withdrawn.
Zelensky thanked SBU chief Vasyl Maliuk for the achievement and instructed the Security Service to inform the public about the details and results of the operation that can be made public. He emphasized that while not everything can be disclosed at the moment, these actions by Ukraine will undoubtedly be remembered in history.
“We are doing everything to make Russia feel the necessity to end this war. Russia started this war — Russia must end it,” the President said.
Earlier, the Security Service of Ukraine confirmed a large-scale sabotage operation called “Pavutyna” (“Spiderweb”), which resulted in the destruction of Russian strategic aviation at its main airfields.
It was noted that the cost of destroyed or damaged equipment is estimated at approximately $7 billion. In total, 34% of strategic cruise missile carriers based at key military airfields of the Russian Federation were hit.
