President Volodymyr Zelensky, in his evening address, stated that Russia continues its attempts to prolong the war and “normalize” the occupation of Ukrainian territories. In response, Ukraine is increasing sanctions pressure and coordinating new measures with international partners.

According to the President, Ukraine has imposed new sanctions today targeting Russian government officials involved in occupation policies, propaganda figures justifying the war, collaborators, and individuals who help finance Russia’s military machine. Work has also begun on sanctioning Russian publishing houses that spread pro-Kremlin narratives abroad.

“There must be pressure that is truly felt in Russia — pressure that causes losses and has political impact,” Zelensky said.

Ukraine expects the European Union to finalize its 20th sanctions package within the next month. Kyiv has proposed adding Russian legal entities and individuals still profiting from energy exports, as well as expanding global pressure on those involved in the abduction of Ukrainian children. Zelensky also emphasized the need to shut down international supply chains that provide critical components for Russian missiles and drones.

The President noted that Ukraine will hold further talks in the coming weeks to secure additional support for its energy system — including funding and essential equipment. Northern European countries are already assisting, and new agreements are being prepared with Southern European states.

Zelensky highlighted the work of thousands of Ukrainian repair crews, energy workers and municipal services who are working around the clock to restore infrastructure damaged by Russian strikes. He stressed the need to strengthen air defense systems as Russia has increased the use of ballistic missiles.

The President personally commended emergency responders in Poltava and Kharkiv regions for their rapid response in recent days.

“Thank you to everyone working for our country, and to everyone fighting for Ukraine as if fighting for your own home. Glory to Ukraine,” Zelensky concluded.
