President Volodymyr Zelensky said Ukraine will continue long-range strikes on Russian territory and has already adjusted its tasks for August. According to him, after a strike on an oil refining facility in Tobolsk, Siberia has become accessible to Ukrainian deep strikes.
Zelensky said this in his evening address on August 10.
The president said he had held talks with the military leadership, including the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Chief of the General Staff, the defense minister, the commanders of the Unmanned Systems Forces and Air Assault Forces, as well as representatives of the Security Service of Ukraine.
According to him, they identified additional priorities and adjusted tasks for August to make Ukraine’s deep strikes and its medium-range sanctions plan more effective.
Zelensky separately highlighted the strike on a Russian oil refining facility in Tobolsk.
“The distance is significant — more than 2,500 kilometers, and this is Tobolsk in Siberia. This region is now within reach of our deep strikes,” the president said.
He added that there would be more long-range strikes. According to Zelensky, Ukraine has data from internal polling in Russia showing that the number of people who want the war to end is already growing.
The president also said that, for the first time in its history, Russia no longer has a safe strategic rear and cannot wage war without assistance from North Korea.
According to him, Russia is preparing to deploy an additional contingent of North Korean troops on its territory and has received new ballistic missiles from the DPRK.
Zelensky stressed that the use of North Korean weapons in Ukraine allows the DPRK to improve them, which, he said, creates additional risks for Japan, South Korea, the Philippines and other countries in the region.
Separately, the president reported a conversation with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia and upcoming contacts between Ukraine and other countries in the Middle East and the Gulf.
Zelensky also spoke about the restoration of electricity supplies in Odesa. As of the evening, nearly 70,000 families remained without power.
According to him, Russian strikes also hit energy and other critical infrastructure facilities in Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv regions.
