As a result of massive Russian shelling of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on 23 December, the Zaporizhstal steelworks was completely de-energised. This led to an emergency shutdown of production.
This was reported by the Metinvest Group. The company noted that, under extremely difficult conditions, the plant’s team quickly switched to alternative power sources and safely shut down production processes in accordance with anti-crisis regulations.
Thanks to the timely and coordinated actions of the personnel, as well as emergency measures to minimise abnormal situations, it was possible to avoid a man-made accident and reduce emissions into the atmosphere. There is no threat to the life and health of employees and city residents.
The company has implemented operational solutions to stabilise its internal power system. Production will resume once the external power supply is restored.
