Fifty-one UN member states issued a joint statement in support of Ukraine, calling on Russia to end its aggression and agree to a full, immediate and unconditional ceasefire. The countries also demanded the return of deported Ukrainian children and civilians and voiced support for freedom of navigation in the Black Sea.
This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
“We stand with Ukraine and support it in resisting Russian aggression,” the joint statement by 51 countries said.
The countries stressed that Ukraine had agreed to a full, immediate and unconditional ceasefire and called on Russia to do the same.
“Ukraine wants peace. Russia must end its aggression, agree to a ceasefire and engage meaningfully in negotiations toward a comprehensive, just and lasting peace,” the statement said.
The countries also called on Russia to ensure the immediate, safe and unconditional return to Ukraine of all arbitrarily detained, forcibly transferred or deported Ukrainian civilians, including children.
The statement also addressed Ukrainian grain exports. The countries accused Russia of trying to block them, which, they said, threatens global food security.
The signatories expressed support for efforts aimed at ensuring freedom of navigation in the Black Sea.
