Ukrainian citizens aged 60 and over can sign a contract with the Armed Forces. Territorial recruitment centers have received an algorithm for enrolling such people into service.

This was announced by People’s Deputy Roman Kostenko.

The initiator of the relevant bill, MP Kostenko, believes that this is an opportunity to involve experienced and responsible Ukrainians in the defense of Ukraine, regardless of age.

Law No. 13229 stipulates that during martial law, men and women who have reached the age of 60 will be able to enter military service under contract. The condition is that a medical commission must recognize them as fit for service based on their health.

A contract can only be concluded with the written consent of the commander of the military unit. If the candidate is an officer, his candidacy must be additionally approved by the General Staff or the governing body of the military formation.

“An algorithm of actions for officials regarding the acceptance of citizens aged 60 and older into military service under contract has already been sent to military units and the TCC and SP. This means that the procedure has been officially launched — now you can contact military units and the TCC and SP to complete the necessary documents,” Kostenko wrote.
