Ukraine’s national language model for artificial intelligence will be named “Syaivo.” This name was chosen based on the results of a vote conducted on the “Diya” app.

This was announced by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Digital Transformation in collaboration with Kyivstar. Over 136,000 Ukrainians participated in the vote, of whom more than 22,000 supported the “Syayvo” option.

Prior to this, users were presented with 10 final name options, selected from over 3,000 proposals. Among them were “Pytay,” “Slovo,” “Dzvinka,” “Hoverla,” “Shypit,” “Shukay,” “Yadro,” “Kavun,” and “Gomin.”

The Ministry of Digital Transformation notes that “Syayvo” will serve as the foundation for creating new digital products. The model is planned to be used for data processing and process automation in business, education, and the defense sector.

As a reminder, in January 2026, then-Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov announced that the launch of the national language model was expected in the spring in beta testing format. According to him, Ukrainian developers are adapting Google’s Gemma model system to Ukrainian needs, with Kyivstar serving as the technical partner and sponsor.

The language model is currently under development. The Ministry of Digital Transformation is working with government agencies, media outlets, universities, and other institutions to process significant volumes of data. According to Fedorov, Ukraine aims to become one of the top three global leaders in the field of artificial intelligence development.
