Prosecutor General Andriy Kostin resigned, the corresponding statement Kostin published in social networks of the Prosecutor’s office.
“I consider absolutely correct the position of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky regarding the fact that there should not only be cancelled all unlawful decisions on granting disability, relevant pension and other accruals, there should be not only clear legislative and organizational changes, but also personal responsibility. Including political responsibility.
I am grateful to the President of Ukraine and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for their trust. But in this situation I believe it is correct to declare my dismissal from the post of Prosecutor General”, – stated in the message.
The decision was taken against the background of scandals related to abuses in the field of disability registration for prosecutors.
