Kyiv targets key military-industrial sites in Samara and Stavropol in effort to degrade Russia’s war production capacity
Ukrainian drone units struck major Russian defence industry sites overnight in a coordinated effort to weaken Moscow’s ability to produce explosives and ammunition, according to Ukraine’s General Staff.
In an official statement released on Friday, Ukrainian military officials said the attacks targeted high-value facilities in the Samara and Stavropol regions — both central to Russia’s military-industrial complex.
One of the strikes reportedly hit facilities of JSC “NNK” in Samara, described by Ukraine as a leading manufacturer of components for explosives. Local sources reported explosions and subsequent fires in the area’s industrial zone.
Another strike targeted the Nevinnomyssk Chemical Plant in Stavropol, one of Russia’s major producers of base materials for explosives, munitions, and rocket fuel. Kyiv accuses the plant of being directly involved in supplying Russia’s war effort against Ukraine. The attack triggered a series of explosions and a fire, with Russian air defences reportedly engaging targets in the vicinity.
Ukrainian officials said damage assessments are ongoing but framed the attacks as part of a broader strategy to undermine Russia’s capacity to sustain its war effort.
“The Defence Forces will continue taking all necessary measures to destroy the enemy’s military-economic potential and force Russia to end its armed aggression,” the statement said.
The latest strikes come amid intensifying drone warfare as Ukraine increasingly targets Russian infrastructure deep beyond the front line, seeking to disrupt supply chains and production critical to Moscow’s invasion.
