For the first time during the Russian-Ukrainian war, a North Korean self-propelled artillery system “Koksan” capable of firing at a distance of up to 60 km was destroyed. Soldiers of the 412th Nemesis Regiment in the Luhansk region tracked down and destroyed the rare equipment.

This was reported by the 412th separate regiment of unmanned systems Nemesis.

The range of the 170-millimeter M1978 Koksan self-propelled artillery system reaches 43 km with a high-explosive fragmentation projectile and 54-60 km with an active-reactive projectile. The firing rate is two shots per 5 minutes, and the vehicle is manned by eight soldiers (a driver, a commander, a gunner and five loaders/pickup men).

“For the first time, the Koksan self-propelled artillery system was spotted in Russian service in October 2024. The first combat use was recorded during the Iran-Iraq war of 1980-1988,” the military noted.
