Ukraine’s Air Force reported it had repelled a large-scale Russian aerial attack overnight on 26 April. The assault involved a mix of missiles and drones launched from Russian territory.
According to a statement from Ukraine’s Air Force Command, the attack began at 22:00 on 25 April and included the launch of one Oniks anti-ship missile, two Kh-31P anti-radar missiles, and 114 strike UAVs, many of which were designed to imitate other drone types. Launch sites were reported in Kursk, Millerovo, Orel and Primorsko-Akhtarsk in Russia.
Ukrainian defences, including fighter aircraft, air defence missile units, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire teams, were deployed to counter the assault.
By 10:00, Ukrainian forces had confirmed the downing of 66 enemy drones, mainly Shahed-type UAVs, across the east, north, south and central regions of the country. An additional 31 drones were reported lost by Russian forces without causing any damage.
Despite the robust defence, the attack resulted in damage in Kirovohrad, Kharkiv, Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Authorities have not yet disclosed the full extent of the impact.
