On February 26, as part of repatriation efforts, 1,000 bodies of deceased persons were returned to Ukraine. According to preliminary information from the Russian Federation, the bodies may belong to Ukrainian defenders.
This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
The identification of the repatriated dead will be carried out by law enforcement investigators together with representatives of Ukrainian expert institutions.
The personnel of the Joint Center for Support of Measures of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will transport the repatriated deceased to designated state specialized institutions and organize the transfer of the bodies of the deceased to representatives of law enforcement agencies in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and forensic medical examination in the Ministry of Health.
