American journalist and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson said the CIA is allegedly preparing a criminal referral against him. According to him, the reason could be his contacts with people in Iran before the war.
In a video statement published on X, Tucker Carlson said he had learned about a possible criminal referral being prepared for the U.S. Department of Justice.
According to Carlson, the potential case could be based on the Foreign Agents Act due to his contacts with people in Iran before the war. He also claimed that U.S. intelligence agencies had accessed his text messages.
Carlson said he does not consider himself an agent of a foreign power and insisted he has never acted against U.S. interests. He also said he has never taken money from foreign governments.
The journalist added that his job involves speaking with many people in order to understand what is happening around the world and that he does not intend to stop doing so.
In the statement, Carlson also said that during wartime countries can become more authoritarian and claimed that U.S. intelligence agencies spy on American citizens.
He also referred to a 2021 incident when, according to him, U.S. intelligence agencies allegedly obtained his messages while he was trying to arrange an interview with Russian President Vladimir Putin, after which the information appeared in the media.
Tucker Carlson is an American journalist and political commentator who for many years hosted a program on Fox News. In Ukraine, he is often described as one of the transmitters of Russian propaganda in the West.
In 2024 Carlson became the first Western journalist to interview Russian President Vladimir Putin after the start of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
Carlson said he published the video to draw attention to what he believes are cases when U.S. intelligence agencies may use their powers against American citizens.
