U.S. President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News that he has a group of wealthy people ready to buy the TikTok app if it is banned in the United States. This was reported by Reuters.
According to Trump, this group is interested in the deal and “really likes” TikTok. He did not specify who exactly is part of it, but noted that all potential investors are American citizens.
“I have a group of very wealthy people who love TikTok, and they want to buy it if it’s banned,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News.
Earlier, the U.S. Congress passed a law requiring ByteDance to sell TikTok to American owners if the platform wants to avoid a ban in the United States. During his previous term, the Trump administration tried to force the Chinese company to sell the US segment of TikTok over data security concerns.
In 2025, Trump again expressed a similar position, although legal battles are currently underway in the United States over the possible restriction of TikTok.
Reuters notes that lawmakers of both parties in the United States call the app a national security risk due to ties to China and the possibility of collecting US data.
