On February 5, US President Donald Trump signed a decree banning transgender athletes from participating in the same competitions as women.
The document was published on the White House website.
The US President’s decree prohibits transgender people from participating in women’s and girls’ sports teams. Educational institutions that allow this will be deprived of federal funding.
The decree applies mainly to school, university and amateur competitions. At the same time, the Trump administration expects that the US Olympic Committee and the National Collegiate Sports Association will no longer allow transgender people to compete with women.
Trump also said that the United States would deny visas to transgender athletes.
