The tragedy occurred today at around 11:30 a.m. between the villages of Zatoka and Karolino-Buhaz.
According to preliminary findings, three vacationers—a woman and two men—died while swimming as a result of two explosions of unknown objects, police said. The identities of the victims are being established.
According to the Odessa Regional State Administration, the tragedy occurred today, 10 August, in one of the settlements of the Karolino-Buhaz community in the Bilhorod-Dnistrovsky district.
Investigative and operational teams from the local police department, specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service of the Main Police Department in the Odesa region, and employees of the State Emergency Service are currently working at the scene.
Oleg Kiper, head of the Odessa Regional State Administration, clarified: “One man died in Karolino-Buhaz, another man and woman died in Zatoka. All of them were killed by explosive devices while swimming in areas prohibited for recreation.”
The full circumstances of the tragic events are being established, and the issue of entering information into the Unified Register of Pre-trial Investigations under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine with the note ‘accident’ is being decided.
The police urge residents and visitors to the Odessa region to strictly observe the rules of martial law: do not go to the beach areas of the Black Sea coast of the Odessa region, access to which is prohibited.
