Today, November 11, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited Kherson on the third anniversary of its liberation from Russian occupation.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy recorded a video message near the stele at the entrance to Kherson.
“The occupiers fled from here, and we remember how the courage of our people made it happen, how Ukrainian flags returned to the city. I thank each of our soldiers who fought for Kherson, everyone who is defending this beautiful city now,” Zelenskyy said.
Zelenskyy held a meeting on security. The president also awarded the residents of Kherson – volunteers, doctors, rescuers, police officers, and other defenders of our city.
“Thousands of Russian drone strikes every month against this city, in fact, a constant threat. I have determined that our Unmanned Systems Forces, “Madjar Birds,” and other units will increase their capabilities here. It is important to implement all of this,” Zelenskyy said.
The president also visited one of the city’s hospitals, where some of the wards and the intensive care unit have been moved underground due to constant shelling. Eleven medical facilities in the city are already operating in shelters.
As a reminder, from February to March 2022, the Russians managed to occupy Kherson and a significant part of the region. In November, the Armed Forces of Ukraine de-occupied the right bank of the Kherson region and the regional center. Since then, the Russian army has not stopped shelling Kherson and other settlements in the region.
