The Cabinet of Ministers is allocating over UAH 1.5 billion to maintain the safe condition of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant (ChNPP) shelter.
“Today, the Government is allocating over UAH 1.5 billion to keep the Chornobyl NPP shelter safe. We are increasing funding by 139 million compared to 2024,” said Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
Meanwhile, the liquidation of the consequences of the Russian strike on the Chernobyl nuclear power plant continues. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as of 12:00, work is underway to partially open the structures and extinguish 2 smoldering centers of roof insulation. Three groups of rescuers are working.
“The situation is constantly monitored using a UAV with a thermal imager. The radiation background at the ChNPP industrial site does not exceed the norm, there is no threat to the public. The situation is under control,” the agency said.
