On the night of 17 April, the 112th Guards Missile Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces was attacked again in the city of Shuya, Ivanovo region of the Russian Federation. It is this unit that Ukrainian intelligence believes to be responsible for the attack on Sumy on Palm Sunday, which killed 35 people.
Videos of the explosions were posted on social media, and local authorities introduced a ‘drone attack alert’.
According to eyewitnesses, gunfire and at least seven powerful explosions were heard in Shuya and surrounding villages around four in the morning.
According to Ukraine’s Defence Intelligence, on 13 April, the 112th Brigade struck Sumy with Iskander-M/KN-23 ballistic missiles, killing dozens of civilians and injuring more than 100.
