Poland may reconsider its annual spending of $50 million on Starlink services after the country was excluded from the shared European roaming zone. The new restrictions already apply to new Polish customers and will also be extended to existing users from August 17.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski addressed Elon Musk on X, demanding that he stop discriminating against Polish Starlink users.
“Hi, Elon Musk, big man, stop discriminating against Polish Starlink users, otherwise we may reconsider the decision to pay you $50 million a year for your services,” Sikorski wrote.
Starlink excluded Poland from the shared European roaming zone, which covers more than 30 countries, including Germany, Czechia, Slovakia and Lithuania. Users in these countries can take their terminals across borders without international-use restrictions, while additional requirements are being introduced for Polish customers.
Starlink’s guidance states that Poland is not included in the European region and that accounts registered in the country are considered Poland-only for use in their home country.
Polish Digital Affairs Minister Krzysztof Gawkowski also criticized SpaceX’s decision, saying that the company treats Poles as second-class customers.
“Poland is not a second-class market. Polish customers are not second-class customers,” he wrote.
Gawkowski also demanded that SpaceX specify the exact regulatory grounds for the restrictions if the company explains them by “local regulatory requirements.”
The new rules have applied to new Starlink customers since July 14, 2026, and will be extended to existing Polish users on August 17.
As a reminder, Sikorski and Musk have already clashed over Starlink. Last year, Musk told the Polish minister to “be quiet, small man” after Sikorski said Warsaw could seek alternative providers of the satellite service that Poland finances for Ukraine.
