On January 27, a second underground school was opened in Kharkiv, which currently provides education for 750 students. After the completion of a new stage of construction, the institution will be able to accommodate about a thousand children.
This was announced by Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov.
According to the mayor, the school is designed to meet the highest safety standards and is equipped with everything necessary for learning. The opening of this underground educational institution was made possible thanks to funding from the Taiwanese government and the support of international partners.
“This school has become an important step in creating a safe educational space for children who could not study offline due to the pandemic and war. Now they finally have the opportunity to see their classmates and learn together,” he said.
Currently, more than six thousand children in Kharkiv are studying in underground schools and on the basis of the subway.
