The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has confirmed the execution of a large-scale sabotage operation named “Pavutyna” (“Spiderweb”), which resulted in significant damage to Russia’s strategic aviation at its main air bases. The SBU reported this on social media.
According to preliminary estimates, the cost of the destroyed or damaged equipment amounts to approximately 7 billion US dollars. In total, 34% of Russia’s strategic cruise missile carriers based at key military airfields were struck.
“Details of the special operation will be revealed later,” the statement said. The SBU also emphasized the resilience of the Ukrainian people, quoting the renowned Ukrainian writer Lina Kostenko:
“Did you really think Ukraine would be that easy? Ukraine is superb. Ukraine is exclusive. It has endured all the tests of history. Every kind of trial has been thrown at it. It is tempered by the highest degree of resilience. In the modern world, it is priceless.”
The agency underscored that it is doing everything possible to expel the enemy from Ukrainian soil and will strike at them on sea, in the air, on land — and if necessary, “drag them out from underground.”
