The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has uncovered another FSB agent embedded within the Ukrainian military. The traitor was detained at a military unit in the Kirovohrad region, the SBU reported.
The perpetrator turned out to be a 32-year-old driver-electrician who had been passing sensitive information to Russian intelligence. He shared coordinates of Defense Forces hospitals and other medical facilities where wounded Ukrainian soldiers were being treated. Additionally, he provided the enemy with details on the movement routes of his unit toward the frontlines, as well as information on their weaponry.
The agent was recruited by the FSB after posting anti-Ukrainian comments on pro-Russian Telegram channels. During recruitment, he was promised money and evacuation to the temporarily occupied Donetsk region, where he planned to join Russian occupation forces and fight against Ukraine.
However, the SBU’s military counterintelligence, with the support of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, apprehended the agent red-handed while he was conducting visual reconnaissance near a military facility. A mobile phone containing evidence of his collaboration with the enemy was seized.
The SBU had conducted special operations beforehand to secure the locations of the Defense Forces. The suspect has been officially charged with high treason committed under martial law (Part 2, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). He faces life imprisonment with confiscation of property.
The operation was carried out by SBU officers in the Kirovohrad region under the procedural supervision of the Kropyvnytskyi Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Defense in the Southern Region.
