A series of explosions took place in Kharkiv on the evening of 28 October. The city centre was hit.
‘Preliminary, under the blow was the very centre of Kharkiv. At the site of the “arrival” of fire and smoke. Information about the destruction and victims is specified’, – said Kharkiv mayor Igor Terekhov.
Later it became known that the blow came to the building Derzhprom on Freedom Square.
‘Several floors are destroyed. As a result, we have hundreds of damaged windows in administrative buildings, regional hospital and residential houses.
It is known about 6 victims – they are in mild and average condition. There are no heavy ones,’ said the head of the regional administration Oleg Sinegubov.

Derzhrom was built in the 1920s. It housed the Sovnarkom of Soviet Ukraine, when Kharkiv was the capital of the Ukrainian SSR.
It is considered to be the most famous object of Soviet constructivism. It is under UNESCO protection.
