Ukraine’s armed forces struck six ATACMS ballistic missiles at a military facility in the Bryansk Region on the night of November 19, the Russian Defense Ministry has said.

The Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement that five missiles “were shot down by the S-400 SAM and Pantsir SAM systems,” and one was damaged.

On the morning of November 19, the AFU General Staff reported an attack on a weapons depot in the Bryansk region. Soon a number of media outlets, citing a source in the Ukrainian army, wrote that an ATACMS missile strike was carried out in the Bryansk region on an ammunition depot near the town of Karachev.

U.S. State Department spokesman Brian Nichols on November 19 actually confirmed that Washington had authorized Ukraine to attack Russian territory with ATACMS missiles. According to the U.S. media, the U.S. authorized ATACMS missiles to strike only Kursk Oblast. They did not officially specify the geography of the missiles’ use.
