Russian vessel with weapons from Syria breaks down on the high seas

The Russian cargo ship Sparta, which is transporting weapons and equipment from Syria, broke down on the high seas.

According to the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, the ship’s main engine fuel pipe failed. The crew is currently trying to fix the problem by drifting off the coast of Portugal.

Meanwhile, Russian forces in Syria are finalizing the withdrawal of their positions in remote regions and remain at only two bases – in Hmeymim and Tartus. Some of the weapons from the port of Tartus have begun to be transported by sea to Libya.

Also, according to intelligence, Syria is actively discussing the new government’s alleged demand to Russia for the complete withdrawal of its military contingent by February 20, 2025. This decision is rumored to be related to Damascus’ desire to achieve the lifting of international sanctions.
