A Russian Su-35S fighter jet violated Estonian airspace while covering a tanker of the Russian shadow fleet.

The incident occurred when the Estonian Navy attempted to force the JAGUAR vessel to change course. The tanker was flying the flag of Gabon and did not respond to requests. Estonia deployed an AgustaWestland AW139 helicopter, an M28 Skytruck aircraft and an EML Raju patrol boat to intercept it.
In response, Russia scrambled a Su-35S fighter jet, which turned off two-way radio communication with Estonian air traffic control.
Portuguese F-16 fighter jets, which are on a NATO mission to protect the skies over the Baltic states and are based in Emari, responded to the incident.
After that, the tanker JAGUAR stopped at anchor near the island of Hiiumaa in the eastern part of the Baltic Sea.
