On August 13, a passenger train locomotive caught fire in Ukraine’s Odesa region after a Russian drone strike. Rescuers evacuated the passengers.
The Main Department of Ukraine’s State Emergency Service in Odesa region reported the incident.
The attack on the passenger train occurred in Berezivka district. Rescuers extinguished the fire in the locomotive.
Two people were killed in the Russian strike — the train driver and his assistant.
State Emergency Service rescuers, together with other services, moved people from the train to a safe distance. A total of 317 passengers were evacuated, including 67 children.
Twelve buses provided by the State Emergency Service, the Berezivka district community and the city of Odesa were deployed to transport the passengers onward.
