Following new Russian strikes on energy infrastructure, around 280,000 households in the Dnipropetrovsk and Kyiv regions were left without electricity. Russia targeted thermal power plants, electrical substations, a gas distribution facility and railway infrastructure in several regions.
This was reported by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
According to him, on the evening of October 30, Russian Shahed drones struck a thermal power plant in Kyiv.
In the Dnipropetrovsk region, four electrical substations and a gas distribution facility were attacked overnight. Early in the morning, a Russian drone struck a thermal power plant in Shostka, Sumy region.
Russian forces also targeted railway infrastructure in Dnipro and Kharkiv.
According to Zelenskyy, the electricity supply situation remains difficult in several regions following the strikes. Around 200,000 households in Dnipro and the surrounding region were left without power, while more than 80,000 households in the Kyiv region were also without electricity.
Repair crews are working to eliminate the consequences of the attacks and restore power supplies.
The president stressed that Russia continues to target civilian infrastructure on a daily basis and called on Ukraine’s partners to increase pressure on Moscow.
“Strong steps are truly needed toward peace. These are sanctions against the aggressor and new support packages for Ukraine,” Zelenskyy said.
