Russian forces struck central Sumy with four guided aerial bombs on September 29, hitting, among other targets, a school where classes were underway, as well as private homes. Two people were killed and six others were wounded, including three children.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported the attack.
At the time of the strike, students and teachers at the school were in a shelter. A total of 100 people were evacuated in time.
The Russian airstrike also damaged homes in the private residential sector.
As of now, two people are known to have been killed. Six others were wounded, including three children.
“Russian terrorists and outright scum. Striking children, schools and ordinary homes like this,” Zelenskyy said.
The president called on the United States, Europe and other partners to increase real pressure on Russia.
“We expect steps in response to these strikes, and they must not be limited to words alone,” he stressed.
