The Ministry of foreign Affairs believes that the declaration of the BRICS summit showed that the organization does not have a unified position on Russia’s war against Ukraine.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has drawn attention to paragraph 36 of the final declaration of the BRICS summit in Kazan dedicated to Ukraine, in which its participants merely recalled their national positions, their commitment to the purposes and principles of the UN Charter, as well as to peaceful settlement and diplomacy.

We believe that this text actually shows that Russia failed to «export» to the BRICS summit participants its neo-imperialist views on changing the world order and global security architecture through its aggression against Ukraine,” the statement reads.

The Ukrainian ministry noted that the final declaration demonstrated the absence of a unified BRICS position on the Russian aggression against Ukraine. And the summit itself showed that the world majority remains on Ukraine’s side in the quest to guarantee a just peace.

The BRICS summit with the participation of nearly 40 world leaders began in Russia on October 22 and will continue until October 24.

Participants include both leaders of important world states, China and India, Xi Jinping and Narendra Modi, as well as representatives of a much lower level – Taliban Minister of Trade and Industry Nuruddin Azizi, Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin.

On 22 October, UN Secretary General António Guterres, who did not attend the Peace Summit organized by Ukraine and Switzerland in June, also arrived in Kazan.
