On the evening of October 30, Russian troops struck the Slovyansk Thermal Power Plant, killing two people and wounding others. Restoration work is still ongoing after the Russian Federation’s nighttime attack on Ukraine.
This was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in an evening address.
“A few hours ago, there was an attack on the Slovyansk Thermal Power Plant — an attack with Russian bombs. Unfortunately, two people were killed and others were wounded,” Zelenskyy said, stressing that this was yet another manifestation of Russian terror.
After Russia’s combined strike on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on the night of October 20-30, emergency repair work is continuing from Zaporizhzhia and Mykolaiv regions to Ivano-Frankivsk and Vinnytsia regions.
According to him, the strike was carefully planned and included various types of missiles — a total of 52 missiles and more than 600 strike drones, including about 400 “suicide drones.” Ukrainian air defenses destroyed most of the drones and two-thirds of the missiles. The president stressed that the priority is to strengthen air defense systems and supply missiles for them.
The head of state also noted that Ukraine has agreements with Norway, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, and the European Commission on support for the energy sector, in particular on the purchase of gas and the supply of equipment for electricity generation. The Ukrainian energy minister held a meeting with representatives of the G7 countries, which, according to Zelenskyy, are ready to support Ukraine.
