Moscow will target Estonia with nuclear weapons if nuclear arms aimed at Russia are deployed on its territory. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said this in a comment to Rossiya TV correspondent.
According to him, Russia does not threaten Estonia or other European countries, however, if nuclear weapons aimed at Russia are stationed in Estonia, Russian nuclear weapons will be aimed at Estonian territory. “Estonia must clearly understand this,” Peskov said.
He added that Russia “will always do what is necessary to ensure its own security, especially in matters of nuclear deterrence.”
Earlier, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said that Estonia is ready, if necessary, to host NATO allies’ nuclear weapons on its territory if the alliance deems it appropriate.
