        Russia attacks seven districts of Kharkiv with drones overnight, damaging homes and cars

        Russian forces launched a massive drone attack on Kharkiv overnight on May 17, striking several districts of the city. Residential buildings, cars and civilian infrastructure were damaged in the attack.

        Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and regional governor Oleh Syniehubov reported the strikes.

        The first reports of explosions appeared shortly after 1:20 a.m.

        According to Terekhov, one of the Shahed drones hit near apartment buildings in the Saltivskyi district.

        Later, drone debris fell in the Kyivskyi district.

        Seven cars caught fire in the Saltivskyi district after the strike, while around 10 more vehicles were damaged.

        The blast wave also shattered windows in residential buildings and damaged street lighting power lines.

        Terekhov later reported additional drone strikes in the Kholodnohirskyi and Osnovianskyi districts.

        A fire broke out in the Kholodnohirskyi district, and debris damaged windows in another apartment building.

        In the morning, the mayor also reported a combat drone strike in the Shevchenkivskyi district.

        According to Terekhov, there were no casualties reported in the city as of the morning.

        At the same time, Kharkiv regional governor Oleh Syniehubov said seven people were injured across Kharkiv and the region over the past 24 hours due to Russian attacks.

        In Kharkiv itself, the injured included a 55-year-old woman and men aged 19, 52 and 65.

        According to regional authorities, Russian drones targeted the Industrialnyi, Kyivskyi, Osnovianskyi, Saltivskyi, Kholodnohirskyi, Nemyshlianskyi and Shevchenkivskyi districts of the city.

        Two apartment buildings, two private houses, a university facility, garages and multiple vehicles were damaged.
