On the morning of 16 May, explosions were heard in occupied Crimea. Crimean public media reported loud explosions in the areas of Yalta, Alupka, Sevastopol and later also in Perevalne.

Sevastopol’s Gauleiter Mikhail Razvozhayev assured that the explosions in the city were the result of Russian air defence operations. At the same time, social media users reported loud explosions in the Pervomaisky district, where the 126th separate coastal defence brigade of the Russian Black Sea Fleet is located.

According to the Crimean Wind project, an ammunition depot belonging to this brigade was hit. As a result, the Simferopol-Alushta road was closed and drivers were diverted.

Telegram channels also reported explosions in Sevastopol in the areas of the Belbek and Kacha airfields, as well as near Bakhchisaray.
