On February 5, Kyiv and Warsaw signed a letter of intent on joint production in the defense industry, including drones. The document provides for the development of cooperation in the production of weapons, ammunition, and the use of joint financial and technological capabilities.

This was announced by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Kyiv on February 5.

Tusk noted that the implementation of joint production had been a goal for many months, and the parties had made significant efforts to achieve it. According to him, during the preparation, the focus was on finding funding and removing barriers that complicated the exchange of technologies, and the letter of intent itself is already backed up by specific facts.

“We talked about it and made a lot of efforts to make the idea of joint production of weapons and ammunition at enterprises in both Poland and Ukraine a reality,” Tusk said.

Zelenskyy, for his part, stressed that the experience of war has given Ukraine an understanding of what weapons really work in modern conditions and what can help.

According to Tusk, the Polish side will work to ensure that funds under the European SAFE program can be used as effectively as possible for joint security.

According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine is counting on Poland’s continued participation in the PURL program, which he called key to strengthening air defense.
