Norway has announced it will deploy its F-35 fighter jets to Poland this autumn. The mission aims to reinforce NATO’s air and missile defence system and protect a key logistical hub for aid to Ukraine.

This was confirmed in an official post by the Norwegian Ministry of Defence on X.

“Norway is strengthening its contribution to NATO’s air and missile defence by sending F-35 fighter aircraft to Poland and Rzeszów Airport this autumn,” the ministry said.

The mission has two main objectives:

        • Protecting Poland’s airspace as a NATO member.
        • Securing a critical logistics hub in Rzeszów, through which international aid for Ukraine is delivered.

Norwegian Defence Minister Tore O. Sandvik highlighted the importance of the deployment:

“This is a vital contribution. We are helping ensure that support to Ukraine reaches its destination, and that Ukraine can continue its fight for freedom.”

Norway’s Ministry of Defence also stressed that the operation has been carefully planned to ensure the country’s own readiness and security are maintained.
