On the night of May 31, the Russian army launched a massive missile and drone attack on Sumy region. This was reported by the head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, on Facebook.
Missile strikes hit the Nedryhailiv community, damaging residential buildings and destroying warehouse facilities. At least one person was injured and received medical assistance on site. In the Romny district, a drone struck a vehicle delivering bread, injuring the driver. Five other enemy drones targeted a farm in one of the villages, sparking a large fire that killed hundreds of livestock and destroyed dozens of tons of grain.
The Trostianets community also came under attack. Preliminary reports say Russian forces used two missiles and 13 drones to strike agricultural enterprises. Buildings and equipment were burned, though no casualties were reported. Emergency services are working at the scenes to eliminate the consequences of the strikes.
Due to constant shelling of border areas, the head of the regional administration signed an order for the mandatory evacuation of residents from 11 more villages in the Sumy district. These include: Horobivka, Shtanivka, Voronivka, Yanchenky, Tsymbalivka, Shkurativka, Krovne, Mykolaivka, Rudnivka, Spaske, and Kapytanivka. Evacuees are provided with transportation, humanitarian aid, temporary shelter, and social support.
“I urge residents not to delay their decision to evacuate. Remaining in a constant danger zone poses a direct threat to your life and health,” Hryhorov stressed.
As of now, 213 settlements in Sumy region are subject to mandatory evacuation. The Russian military continues to terrorize the border areas, and the primary goal is to save every life.
