Men aged 18 to 22 are allowed to leave Ukraine

The government has updated the procedure for crossing the state border. Men aged 18 to 22 will be able to cross the border without hindrance, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko said.

“This applies to all citizens of the relevant age. This decision also applies to citizens who, for various reasons, are currently abroad. We want Ukrainians to maintain their ties with Ukraine as much as possible,” Svyrydenko wrote.

The relevant resolution was prepared by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, according to the head of the department, Ihor Klymenko.

“The purpose of this step is, first and foremost, to provide young Ukrainians with broader opportunities for education, internships, and legal employment abroad so that they can later use the experience they gain for the development of Ukraine,” Klymenko said.

The new changes will take effect the day after the Cabinet of Ministers’ resolution is officially published.
