Men 50+ will be mobilised on an equal basis with everyone else – Recruiting center

There is no ban on mobilisation of citizens in the age category from 50 to 60 years old.

This is stated in a statement of the Volyn regional Recruiting center.

In the military Commission noted that according to the Law of Ukraine ‘On military duty and military service’, the persons liable for military duty are male persons aged from 18 to 60 years, who can be called up for military service on mobilisation.

‘And regarding the ‘sensation’ around the news that men aged 50 to 60 will not be mobilised, we note that there is no prohibition regarding the call-up for military service of citizens of this age category. There is a corresponding order on the mobilisation of persons of this age, but this document regulates the procedure of conscription of this category of persons and, in fact, is intended for official use only,’ the statement reads.

Volyn Recruiting center says that now in Ukraine men from 50 to 60 years old are mobilised in the established order. This means that citizens over 50 years old, who do not have exemption from military service for health reasons or other legal grounds, are subject to mobilisation under general conditions.

‘During mobilisation, the focus is on determining fitness for service on the basis of health, military speciality and experience. Thus, if a person over the age of 50 meets the above criteria, he or she may be mobilised….. So, the mobilisation of citizens aged 50-60 years is lawful and such that is fully and completely in accordance with the norms of the current legislation’, – Volyn Recruiting center say.

Earlier the media wrote that in the Army adopted a directive that men aged 50-60 years can be mobilised only under a separate mobilisation order.
