On the night of August 16, Moscow and the Moscow region came under one of the largest drone attacks in recent times. Russian authorities reported hundreds of drones heading toward the capital region, while large warehouse complexes caught fire in the Moscow region following reported strikes.
Russian media reported this, citing Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov.
According to Sobyanin, from the evening of August 15 until 6:30 a.m. on August 16, around 600 drones were allegedly flying toward the Moscow region. He claimed that 201 of them were destroyed in the region.
In the village of Koledino in the Podolsk urban district, a drone hit a Wildberries warehouse located in an industrial park. A major fire broke out at the facility after the strike. According to Russian media, the warehouse complex covers more than 200,000 square meters and is described as the largest warehouse operated by the Wildberries marketplace.

Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov said warehouse employees had been moved to shelters before the attack and, according to preliminary information, none of them were injured.
Another fire broke out in Domodedovo, where, according to Russian authorities, a pharmaceutical warehouse was attacked.
Wildberries facilities have previously been targeted by drones. Russian media linked strikes on the company’s logistics facilities to the sale of military-related goods through the marketplace. On July 28, a fire also broke out near the Wildberries logistics center in Koledino during a drone attack.
The Ukrainian side had not officially commented on the attack at the time of publication.
