A major outage affected Meta’s platforms on June 12, with users across multiple countries reporting problems accessing Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp and Threads.

The disruption was reflected in reports from outage-tracking services Downdetector and Down for Everyone or Just Me.

According to available information, the issues began around 16:20 Kyiv time. Within a short period, thousands of reports about service disruptions across Meta’s platforms were submitted to monitoring websites.

Users most frequently reported being unable to log into their accounts, refresh news feeds, upload content or send messages. Some users also said they were unexpectedly logged out of their profiles and encountered authentication errors.

Monitoring data indicated that about 58% of Facebook-related complaints concerned a complete outage of the service. Another 22% were related to login issues, while 20% involved server errors.

Similar problems were reported across Messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp and Threads. In some cases, users experienced delays in chats, difficulties refreshing feeds or problems using search functions.

Reports of the outage came from different parts of the world, with users in several countries reporting either complete service disruptions or authentication issues.

At the same time, some users reported difficulties accessing Downdetector itself, making it harder to verify the scale of the outage in real time.

As of publication, Meta had not provided an official explanation for the disruption or announced when full service would be restored.
