6 December 2024 16:22

Alexander Lukashenko has asked Russian President Vladimir Putin to deploy the “Oreshnik” missile system in Belarus. He said this during a ceremony of signing joint documents following a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State.

In response, Putin called it “possible.” He clarified that the deployment of “Oreshnik” in Belarus would be possible in the second half of 2025, as the Russian authorities plan to launch mass production by that time.

On December 6, Putin and Lukashenko signed an agreement on security guarantees between Russia and Belarus within the framework of the Union State. According to the Russian president, the agreement defines mutual obligations for “defense, protection of the sovereignty, independence and constitutional order of Russia and Belarus.”
