Ukrainian boxer Vasiliy Lomachenko is planning to return to the ring after a break of more than two years. According to BoxingScene, his next opponent could be undefeated Filipino fighter Charly Suarez.
BoxingScene reported this, citing a source familiar with the Ukrainian’s plans.
According to the publication, Lomachenko (18-3, 12 KOs) considers a fight with Suarez (18-0, 10 KOs) the ideal option for his return to the ring. The Ukrainian is expected to be ready for the bout after the Filipino’s appearance on a card in San Francisco on July 11.
If victorious, Lomachenko hopes to face unified super-featherweight champion Emanuel Navarrete in his next fight.
Suarez is the WBO mandatory challenger for Navarrete’s title. Their bout in May 2025 was ruled a no contest after a review of the incident involving a cut suffered by the Mexican boxer. Navarrete previously stated that he would be willing to consider a fight with Lomachenko.
