The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has postponed the rotation of its mission at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant due to the lack of security guarantees from Russia.
This was announced by Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhiy Tykhyi.
According to him, the Kremlin continues to use intimidation of international experts as a method of pressure. In particular, during one of the previous rotations, Russian troops attacked an IAEA vehicle with an attack drone.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Moscow is putting pressure on the Agency for two reasons: it seeks to achieve recognition of the illegal occupation of ZNPP and to manipulate the situation around the station.
“Ukraine highly appreciates the work of the IAEA in unprecedented security conditions. We will not allow Russia to undermine the independence and impartiality of the Agency to achieve its criminal goals. We call on the international community to firmly support the IAEA and strongly condemn the unprecedented pressure that the aggressor state continues to exert on its leadership,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry called.
